• Provide technical pearls to maximize surgical efficacy and minimize complications for nerve surgery.

• Establish a realistic risk: benefit analysis applicable to a variety of revision nerve surgeries.
• Maximize clinical outcomes following revision nerve surgery.

CME Credit Hours: The American Society for Surgery of the Hand designates this Internet Enduring Material activity for a maximum of 1.50 "AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™". Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. The ASSH is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Course Summary:
Widely considered safe and effective, nerve decompression surgeries are some of the most commonly performed procedures. Failure to achieve expected clinical improvement or, even worse, to suffer a complication is understandably disconcerting to both the surgeon and the patient. Missed diagnoses, incomplete release, recurrent scarring, and iatrogenic injury must all be considered. Failed nerve reconstruction, on the other hand, is unfortunately a more common experience and may be related to either technical or physiologic etiologies-the differentiation of which can be challenging even for the most experienced clinicians.
